Big Sur Elopement
Stretching for 90 miles along the central coast of California, the Big Sur region is one of the most beautiful places to get married on the planet. With mountains, valleys, beaches, redwood groves and a majestic ocean with rocky formations rising from the surface, there are so many great places for your ceremony. At Weddings in Monterey, we have been offering our elopement packages in Big Sur since 2009 and are very familiar with all of the great locations to capture your special moment.
In Big Sur we have organized weddings in the following locations:
- Two beautiful beach areas
- Redwood Groves (some in State Parks - two of which are tucked away - and one on a hotel property)
- Private homes with majestic ocean views and a lot of privacy
- Cliffs suspended over the ocean with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains
- Hotels with outdoor wedding chapels or larger rooms with patios - perfect for a small elopement
Over the past 15 years, we have been part of over 175 weddings along the Big Sur Coast. Working with a local company, you can get our insights on everything from locations (and whether they are temporarily closed) to traffic and weather patterns to recommended restaurants.
Our Wedding packages, including for elopements in Big Sur, can be found under our "Elopements" and "Weddings" tabs. We also have packages listed on our site at www.ElopeinMonterey.com including ones with the Glen Oaks Big Sur and Big Sur Lodge. Permit and site fees vary quite a bit -- from less than $100 for weddings with fewer than 10 people up to fees in the thousands for hotel venues or private home rentals. We do have a nominal travel fee for weddings in Big Sur. We are fully insured and have worked with the California State Parks to ensure we have the proper permits for your big day. Some of our favorite restaurants to enjoy after eloping in Big Sur:
• Nepenthe (Amazing views on the Pacific Ocean with an eclectic (and delicious) menu, it's a favorite for tourists and locals.
• Deetjen's Big Sur Inn (Tucked under the trees on the East side of the highway, this place exudes charm as you feel like you're being hosted for dinner at a friends house)
• Big Sur Roadhouse (Great food for a good price with an outdoor deck overlooking the river)
• Sierra Mar (I have to admit we've never eaten here because it is one of the pricier restaurants in the county, but all of our couples who have dined with them up at Post Ranch Inn have raved about it. Very quiet, peaceful with a menu that is always set to impress)
