Finding the right wedding venue in
Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur and Pacific Grove
When it comes to planning a wedding, one of the first steps is to think about some possible dates. The very next step is to find a destination and then a specific wedding location in that destination. Based on availability, you may have to go back to step one and alter your dates if you find an idea wedding venue.
How do you find that wedding venue when you live far from the destination? Usually, people will try one of the major wedding websites for insights which is a great start. You will find, however, that these sites represent venues all over the world. There is no one to call or email other than the wedding venue, and emailing and tracking so many properties can be a daunting task.
As a locally based company, we have seen over 95% of all wedding venues in Monterey County. Additionally, we have worked at the majority of these places as either an officiant or photographer (or both). On national websites, they only promote places that advertise.
To save couples time and provide a locals perspective, we established our Explorers Package in 2018.
Our Monterey Wedding Venue Explorers package ($250) provides the information you need to know from a local point of view. In this one hour consultation (can be by phone, Zoom or in person) we will discuss:
- Dates (are you looking at a date that is historically busy due to a special event? If it is a beach or park wedding, will there be a lot of tourists at the time you want to hold your ceremony?)
- Possible wedding venues (we have a list of over 150 outdoor locations and over 45 indoor locations). After filling out our short questionnaire, we can narrow down these choices for you.
- Hotels (what hotels might be available to match your price range and preferences for your personal stay as well as your guests)
- Reception Venues (names of possible venues, contact information, and a brief discussion/opinions about them)
- Opinions on vendors you are considering for your wedding (if you are just starting, a copy of our curated list of vendors)
- Rehearsal Dinner venues (names of restaurants with private/semi-private rooms and brief discussion/opinions about them)
- An idea of the cost (rough average) for: site/venue fee, local photographers, officiants, florists, bakeries and DJ's
With this package we are not researching availability (this can be added, though). We are saving you time and frustration in figuring out if the Monterey Peninsula is a viable option for your wedding or renewal based on all of the factors (budget, availability, services, weather etc...)
In the event you book a wedding or renewal package (over $1,795) with Weddings In Monterey, $100 of the consulting fee will be credited to your account. If you would prefer to meet to just discuss one of our ceremony packages only, we offer a free consultation (we just don't discuss anything outside of the ceremony itself).
Utilize our experience of 15 years of planning experience, getting to know almost all of the local vendors and over 29 years of living in Monterey County.
