Big Sur and Carmel Cliff Weddings
There are some stunning cliffs available for wedding ceremonies, especially in Northern Big Sur. State Parks require a permit for weddings, and although some will try to hold one without one, it is not advisable (we have seen a few weddings stopped). Over the past 15 years, we have hosted weddings in this scenic area and know all of the best spots. Keep in mind that most cliff areas are best for up to 10 people (there is one larger one at the top of a mountain and another just north in Carmel that would accommodate up to 20 people). If you have a larger party and want a cliffside setting, we work with several hotels that can accommodate groups of up to 100 (with terraces/patios overlooking the ocean).
Big Sur Wedding Cliff's:
Garrapata State Park (a variety of cliffs with views of the ocean, flowering bushes, and mountains). They vary, but some are easy to get to, while others require a bit of a walk/hike. When you book through us, we can send you photos of every area from past weddings. Most spots have beautiful stone patios, while others are a bit more rustic.
There are some areas south of Garrapata State Park, starting with Rocky Point and heading down toward Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, but we stay north of Rocky Point.
Carmel Wedding Cliffs:
In Carmel, there is a wonderful (albeit small) cliff area overlooking Carmel Beach, as well as one that is accessible from a short trail that brings you out to a large rock formation overlooking two beaches and the northern boundary of Pt. Lobos (and this cliff can have enough space for a wedding with about 30 guests, making it the largest cliff area for a wedding).
Pacific Grove Wedding Cliffs:
There are some great coastline areas in the city of Pacific Grove, but most of those are pretty close to sea level. There is one cliff area we love, with a rocky coast backdrop and views out towards Lovers Point Park in one direction and Cannery Row in the other. With that location, it's close enough to a park to also take photos amongst an expansive lawn with a grove of trees.
Monterey Wedding Cliffs:
In the Monterey area, there are a few cliff areas, including one on the sand (that overlooks the rest of the beach), one on the sand (that is right over the water), and one in a small grove of Cypress Trees overlooking the water.
